Music at HBC
Hinckley Baptist Church has a rich history of music.
Worship Band
Our worship band normally plays for the morning service. The members of the band are all experienced musicians. The style of music is mainly contempory, with new songs regularly introduced into worship. More traditional hymns are included, either played on the organ, or given a new feel by the band.
Paul, Joy & Joe Gilliver
Paul (rhythm guitar) and Joy (vocals) Gilliver are experienced worship leaders.
Sue Steer also provides vocals and her husband Dave plays lead guitar, and sometimes bass guitar.
Our bass player (with occasional keyboards) is Chris Bacon.
Andrew MacMillan is an innovative pianist as well as an experienced organist.
On special occasions we usually have the services of Joe Gilliver (son of Paul and Joy) playing drums and sometimes Carolyn Copeland as an additional vocalist.
As well as being part of the band for morning worship, Andrew plays piano and organ for the evening services. Music for the evening service is a mixture of hymns and worship songs.

Scratch Choir
Our minister, Anthony Thacker, is an experienced musician and chorister. On high days and holidays, we sometimes have a choir, tutored by Anthony, to perform a small number of musical pieces in a special service. The choir is open to anyone in the church who feels able to learn music in about six rehearsals!
New Music
Anthony Thacker has written and arranged music which is included in our worship. We occasionally include songs written by members of the worship band.
If you are a musician or singer who would like to get involved in worship at HBC, please feel free to let Anthony or a member of the band know that you are interested. The band practices on Friday evenings and you will be most welcome to join us.
