Sue Payne: Church TreasurerHinckley Baptist Church has been a special part of my life for around 20 years. Prior to this my husband and I were part of the St John’s Church fellowship and this is where I become a Christian. Whilst at HBC my family and I have been blessed by those who have taught us, prayed for us and befriended us, and in gratitude for what have been done for us, I happily seek to serve the Lord where I can. In the past have worked in SALT. I attend two cell groups when I can. Current my main church responsibility is for the finances of the church along with able colleague Ron Raine, Assistant Treasurer to the church. Recently I have been involved with Pathways and am part of the Management committee. I am also a member of the executive of ‘Churches Together in Hinckley and district’ and was the secretary up until recently. AlterNativity is the alternative Christmas gifts market of Churches Together and I am on the organising body of this. Since it started two years ago it has raised £16k for a combination of local, national and international charities. When I am not busy doing any of the above you will find me at my regular job in a local Insolvency Practice. |

I have served in a variety of areas within the Church including SALT, Youth, House-groups, Facilities, as well as a previous 10 years as a Deacon up to 2002. Paul Gilliver -DeaconMy background is in engineering, I became a Christian in 1971 and was baptised in 1972. In the mid 80’s felt a call to full time Christian work and did a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in 1988 to test this out. God really stretched us during this time and confirmed our calling, putting a particular emphasis on discipleship and bridging mission and the local church. We served with YWAM from 1992 to 2001, where our role was leading and developing Crossroads Discipleship Training Schools and it was during this time that my wife, Joy, and I joined HBC. Our desire is to encourage the British church to become more mission conscious, both locally and globally; by motivating, training and facilitating teams and individuals. I am now in a new phase of ministry, working with Saltmine Trust, focusing specifically on enabling short-term teams working on projects in Bulgaria. Joy & I are also part of the worship team at HBC. |

Liz Adcock - DeaconI work at Weavers Close C.E Primary School in Earl Shilton. This is my 5th year of teaching and for the past two years I have taught 10 -11 years olds (Year 6). I have four children, Robert 17, John Alex 16, Libby 14 and Andrew 13. At present every child in the family plays Rugby. Some even seem to eat, breath and sleep rugby. I have actually grown to enjoy watching the game and even know a fair amount of the rules now. We have two dogs (Diva and Jake) both are very lively and friendly, 3.5 cats (.5 as one has gone AWL since the arrival of the second dog!) 1 hamster (on its last legs) lots of fish. Yes, it is a very chaotic house but, I think we like it that way. I run, (in the loosest sense of the word) the Junior section of the Boys Brigade and host The tekna photos life group. |

Dave Steer - DeaconDave has been a member of HBC since 1991. He is married to Sue and they have 2 boys, Jake and Ben. Dave has shared responsibility on the Diaconate for Pastoral care. He plays Guitar and Bass Guitar with the worship group and was also involved until recently with HBC's youth work (SALT). Dave is also involved with the Hinckley Homeless Group, a charity that provides accommodation for homeless young people. In his spare ( wot spare ) time Dave enjoys major house renovations. DIY, painting and tiling, and abusing operatives from telecommunication companies. He also enjoys driving dodgy vehicles and its in fact a wonder and praiseful miracle that his long suffering but very beautiful wife has remained supporting him for this length of time?.. |

Matthew Binder - Youth DeaconI was born and grew up in Aylesbury where from a very early age I attended Southcourt Baptist Church. It was here I became a Christian and later in 1999 was baptised. Between late 2003 and 2004 a number of life changing events occured including moving to Hinckley, starting a new job at Triumph Motorcycles, starting to attend HBC and, last but certainly not least, marrying Lindy. Moby the dog has since arrived into our household bringing with him much exuberance and excitement. Whilst studying for a degree at Southampton University I was a member of the Christian Union where I lead a cell group and also managed the Christian Union football team. This experience has been put to good use here at HBC where Lindy and I currently run the youth life group (ERIC) and I have been able to indulge my interest in football, playing for the church team.
