Youth
Youth Work is an integral and valued part of HBC. It is seen as part of the church family and of the church today. Although it is often said that the youth are our future, we firmly believe that they are also part of the church today and that each of them is a valued member of the church family whatever their age.
The main ethos behind Youth Work at HBC is:
'To show Jesus Christ to children and young people in a meaningful and relevant way and to support through our youth work the church's Mission Statement of 'a church listening to God's Word, living according to God's Word and doing His will within the community.'
Our aims are as follows:
- Outreach. Through our Brigades, SALT (Sunday School), Parent's and Tot's, and Youth Club we bring in many children and young people who would not normally come to church. This enables us to introduce Jesus and Christian living to them.
- Laying a foundation stone in young people's lives. Parents know the importance of giving good foundations to their children as they grow and develop. HBC believes that through showing God's love to our children and young people and through Bible teaching and prayer we can lay a Christian foundation stone for them.
- Support. We aim to support each leader and helper as they strive to support not only the children and young people themselves, but parents too.
We have seen God work in a variety of exciting ways through our young people. They are encouraged to take part in Services and a number of the young people have taken part in short-term missions both in the UK and overseas. This has not only enriched their lives but that of the church. It has been an encouragement when hearing about their experiences.
